Roboflow

Roboflow is a computer vision platform that has reduced the technical barrier to building custom object detection, image classification, and image segmentation models. The traditional process of training a computer vision model required significant ML expertise, large amounts of labelled training data, and substantial infrastructure. Roboflow has productised many of these steps into a workflow accessible to developers without deep ML background.

The dataset management features support importing images from diverse sources, organising and labelling them with annotation tools, and applying augmentation to improve model generalisation. The labelling tool is efficient for creating bounding boxes, polygons, and segmentation masks for training datasets.

Model training is managed within the platform, allowing users to train models without writing training code or managing GPU infrastructure. Models can be deployed to various targets including web, mobile, edge devices, and cloud APIs.

Roboflow Universe is a community repository of public datasets with over 200,000 public datasets and pre-trained models covering common computer vision use cases. This allows teams to start with an existing dataset rather than labelling from scratch for common objects and scenarios.

Practical use cases include quality control in manufacturing (detecting defects), retail (counting products on shelves), agriculture (crop monitoring), and security (detecting people or objects in specific areas). Many of these applications benefit from custom models trained on industry-specific imagery rather than generic pre-trained models.
